A Man’s Guide To Tango Shoes

Men need quality and sexy tango shoes just like their female partners do.The basics of a high quality pair of tango shoes for men starts with the laces. Owning tango shoes that lace up will allow your foot more flexibilty and will be much more comfortable while dancing.

Always stick with a leather upper. Getting a pair of shoes with leather uppers, that are sized correctly, will give you a pair of shoes that will mold to your feet. Leather shoes will stretch and soften as you use them and will mold to your feet after you have broken them in. They will be as close to a custom pair of shoes that you can get without the added expense of having custom made shoes created for your feet.

Always get tango shoes with leather or suede soles. Leather and suede soles will allow your feet to glide and slide across the dance floor without getting stuck to the floor and putting your knees and ankles at a high risk of injury. Always stay away from rubber sold shoes when you are dancing. Even just for practice, rubber soled shoes are dangerous.

Argentine Tango is a dance that is completely free and open to interpretation. There are no set step patterns, no right, or wrong way to hear the music, no restrictions on how close together, or far apart you are with your partner. So it comes as no surprise that it is also totally normal (read “socially acceptable”) for two men to dance it together.

Contrary to the common belief that Argentine Tango is a dance about the relationship between a man and a woman, most Tango dancers will say that it is a dance about whatever you feel, or wish to show. Of course, it can be about a man and a woman, but it does not have to be, and often is not.
